The Perfection Trap
We often think that to be a good parent (or leader), we must be flawless—without "sin" or "stain." The Sages, referencing I Samuel 13:1, note that King Saul was "like a one-year-old, without sin" at the start of his reign. Ironically, the Alshich suggests this perfection was his undoing; he lacked the relatability of a leader who has struggled. As parents, our "good-enough" messiness is actually our superpower. It teaches our children that humanity, repair, and growth are more important than an impossible, shiny perfection.
