Is Derekh Learning free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and genuinely so. The entire shared lesson library (thousands of lessons across every daily learning cycle) is free, forever. You can read, listen to basic audio, and use your daily lesson without paying anything. Pro adds premium narration, all-of-Torah cited chevruta, and custom voices, managed as a subscription through the App Store.

Do I need to know Hebrew or Aramaic?

Not at all. Every lesson is taught in English, translated and contextualized for your chosen voice. If you do know Hebrew, the Expert and Beit Midrash voices reference Hebrew and Aramaic terms in context, but it's never required. We meet you where you are.

Question 3

What's a 'voice', and how do I pick the right one?

A voice is a full teaching frame: the questions it starts with, the context it provides, the connections it draws, and the depth it goes. Beginner keeps it clear and concrete. Expert goes into the Rishonim and Achronim. Startup Mensch connects ancient law to modern work. Jewish Parenting frames every lesson as a family conversation. If you're not sure, start with Beginner: it works for everyone and builds a foundation.

Question 4

Is it for Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or secular Jews?

All of them. Derekh Learning follows the text and the classical tradition honestly: it doesn't add denominational spin, and it doesn't remove things that are genuinely in the source. You're free to bring your own interpretation. The Expert voice includes traditional commentators (Rashi, Maimonides, Tosafot). The Beginner and parenting voices focus on the essential meaning. The app is usable and valuable across every movement.

Is the AI making things up? How do I know the sources are real?

Derekh Learning's chevruta is source-honest by design: it answers with citations ("According to Rashi on Chullin 40…", "The Rambam rules in Hilkhot Issurei Mizbe'ach…") and doesn't assert things it can't trace. The lessons themselves are grounded against the source texts. We build this way because we believe a tool that misleads you about Torah is worse than no tool at all. Pro's all-of-Torah retrieval uses real Sefaria-verified source texts.

What learning cycles does Derekh Learning support?

Daf Yomi, 929 (Tanakh), Daily Mishnah, Daily Rambam, Daily Rambam Accelerated, and Arukh HaShulchan Yomi. We're adding more regularly. You can follow multiple cycles at once, or focus on just one. The shared lesson library covers all of them.

What if I miss a day?

The "Catch Me Up" feature summarizes what you missed and bridges you back into the cycle, without breaking your streak. We built Derekh Learning around the reality that life happens. Consistency over time matters far more than a perfect record.

Can my synagogue or school use Derekh Learning as a group?

Accepted Answer
