About Derekh Learning

Remove every reason not to learn today.

That's the mission. Every feature, every voice, every design choice flows from that single sentence.

The Story Behind Derekh Learning

AJ grew up fully inside Judaism — day school, shul, the full engagement. But somewhere in early adulthood, he found that the door to serious Jewish learning had grown too high. Not because the learning was difficult, but because every resource either assumed he knew everything or assumed he knew nothing. Neither was true.

He tried the big Talmud sites. He bought the Artscroll. He joined a shiur that moved too fast. He found YouTube videos that were too slow. He gave up a few times.

Then he thought about his grandmother, Luba.

"Meet people where they are." — Luba

Luba had a gift for teaching that felt personalized even in a room full of people. She didn't teach at a single level; she spoke to each person in the room as if the lesson had been prepared for them alone. AJ had experienced that kind of teaching exactly twice in his adult Jewish life. He wanted it every day.

His mother Frida had another piece of the picture: she had always believed, quietly and firmly, that Torah and technology live in harmony. That one doesn't threaten the other. That the tools we build can either deepen our humanity or erode it — and that building them well is itself a form of service.

Derekh Learning was built at the intersection of those two ideas: teach people where they are, and use technology to do it at scale. The app doesn't replace a teacher, a shiur, or a study partner. It adds a practice that fits around your life — the three minutes at the kitchen table, the commute, the ten minutes before bed.

It's called Derekh — the path— because a path doesn't ask how you got here or how long you've been walking. It just continues in front of you, one step at a time.

Text-honest

We never make up a source. Every claim in a Derekh Learning lesson is traceable back to a real text.

Voice-generous

We believe there's no wrong starting point, no wrong denomination, no wrong pace. We build for everyone.

Habit-first

The goal isn't to read more. It's to build a practice that survives real life — busy weeks, travel, and everything else.

"Your path. Your voice. Every day."
