Hook
Imagine playing a game of tag that never seems to end. You are running, dodging, and hiding. Just when you think the other player has finally given up and wants to be friends, they try to tag you again. After months of this constant chase, you are absolutely exhausted. Your feet hurt, your brain is fried, and you just want to scream, "I'm out!"
That is exactly where we find David in I Samuel 27:1. He is not yet the famous, confident king of Israel. Right now, he is a tired fugitive. King Saul is chasing him because of intense, toxic jealousy. David has actually spared Saul's life twice, hoping for peace. Each time, Saul apologized and promised to stop. But the moment David let his guard down, the chase started right back up.
