Text Snapshot
Balak hired Balaam to curse the Israelites. But it didn't quite work out that way!
"Then Balak said to Balaam, 'What have you done to me? Here I brought you to damn my enemies, and instead you have blessed them!' He replied, 'I can only repeat faithfully what GOD puts in my mouth.'" (Numbers 23:11-12)
And later, Balaam states, "My message was to bless: When [God] blesses, I cannot reverse it." (Numbers 23:20)

Insight 1
Balaam, despite being a powerful prophet, couldn't say what he wanted. He could only speak God's words. It reminds us that some plans are bigger than us, and sometimes, a higher truth just has to come out!
Insight 2
Even when we try our hardest to control an outcome, like Balak trying to get a curse, sometimes things unfold in an unexpected, even better, way. God's will can't be easily swayed.
Apply It
This week, try this: When you're about to speak, especially if you feel pressured, pause for one second. Ask yourself: "Is this truly my voice, or am I just saying what I think someone wants to hear?"
Chevruta Mini
Question 1
Have you ever felt like you had to say something you didn't mean, just to please someone? What happened?
Question 2
What's a time when a situation turned out completely differently than you expected, perhaps even for the better?
Takeaway
Sometimes, even when we try to steer things, a higher plan or truth will shine through.
