In Chullin 83a, the Talmud discusses the practical logistics of feast preparation—specifically how sellers must warn buyers to ensure they don't accidentally violate laws regarding the slaughter of a mother and her offspring. Amidst these technicalities, the Gemara pauses to note a cultural norm: in wedding preparations, it is customary for the groom’s family to take on a greater share of the effort than the bride’s. The commentators explain this as orach ara (proper conduct), an acknowledgment that communal and family milestones require intentional, sometimes uneven, acts of service.
As we approach Tish’a B’Av, a day marked by the destruction of the Temple and communal loss, we are reminded that our homes are "mini-sanctuaries."
