Insight: The Integrity of Small Gestures
In the hustle of parenting, we often "oversell" our availability or kindness to keep the peace. Whether it’s promising a park trip we know we can’t take, or pretending we’re fine with a chaotic kitchen when we’re actually overwhelmed, we sometimes fall into the trap of geneivat da’at—deceiving others (even unintentionally) to avoid conflict or seem more generous than we are. Chullin 94a teaches us that authenticity matters, even with strangers. When we stop performing "perfect parenting" for others, we model a quiet, honest confidence that our children can actually trust.
