Hook: The Iron Sheep of Security
We often view marriage as a romantic union, but Rambam reminds us it is also a profound, practical partnership. He describes the nedunyah (assets brought into the home) through the lens of nichsei tzon barzel—"iron sheep" property. Like a shepherd responsible for a flock, the husband manages assets with a guarantee: if the value drops, he covers the loss; if it rises, the gain is his. It’s a metaphor for the radical commitment to provide stability for one another, ensuring that come what may, the "flock" remains protected.
