Founders are addicted to "precision theater." We obsess over the exact decimal points in our CAC/LTV ratios, the perfectly kerned pixels on a landing page, or the granular tracking of every user click. We tell ourselves that if we only had one more layer of data, we could eliminate uncertainty. But in the startup world, as in the ancient world of the Sanhedrin, there is a profound difference between calculation and witnessing.

Maimonides (the Rambam) provides a fascinating masterclass in "founder-level prioritization." He walks the reader through complex celestial mechanics—calculating the inclination of the moon and the constellations—only to drop a bombshell admission: "My statements will not be exact, because [this knowledge] is of no consequence regarding the actual sighting of the moon."
