Jeremiah 1:1-2:3
Insight: The "I’m Just a Kid" Trap
Jeremiah felt unqualified to lead, protesting, "I don’t know how to speak, for I am still a boy" Jeremiah 1:6. How often do we as parents feel the same? We look at the chaos of our homes and think, I don’t have the wisdom for this. But God’s response to Jeremiah is the ultimate parenting reframe: You aren't appointed because you are perfect; you are appointed because you are present. Your "good-enough" effort is actually a divine assignment.

"Before I created you in the womb, I selected you; Before you were born, I consecrated you... Do not say, 'I am still a boy,' But go wherever I send you" Jeremiah 1:5-7.
Activity: The "Watchful" Walk (5 Minutes)
Jeremiah sees an almond tree (shaqed) as a sign that God is "watchful" (shoqed) Jeremiah 1:11-12. Take 5 minutes to walk outside or look out a window with your child. Ask them to point out one thing they notice that is "growing" or "changing." Explain that just like the tree, God is "watching" over our family’s growth, even on the messy days. It’s a micro-win to shift from "we’re a mess" to "we’re growing."
Script: When You Feel Inadequate
Child: "Why did you yell/mess up/forget?" Parent: "I’m still learning how to do this parenting thing, and sometimes I get it wrong. But I promise to keep trying, just like you do. We’re in this together."
Habit: The "Rooting" Check-in
This week, pick one moment each day (at dinner or bedtime) to name one "seed" you planted—a time you tried to be patient, listened, or played. Don't judge the harvest; just celebrate the planting.
Takeaway
You are the parent your child needs, exactly as you are. Stop waiting to feel "ready"—you were already selected for this.
