Privacy Policy — Minyan Radar

Minyan Radar is one of the Derekh Learning family of companion apps. It has no account and no sign-in. This page explains exactly what this specific app does — and does not do — with your information. What Minyan Radar collects

This is the one app in our family that does collect data, and we would rather say so plainly than hide behind the word "anonymous."

For a call to be visible to people nearby, it has to be written somewhere we can read. So unlike every other app we make, this one declares three data types — all App Functionality, none used for tracking, none linked to your identity:

• Coarse Location — the coordinate on a posted call, rounded to roughly 110 metres before it is written. There is no code path in the app that transmits a precise location.
• Other User Content — the place name, and any note you type on a call.
• User ID — a random identifier your phone generates, stored on the call so that you can cancel your own. It identifies a post, not a person, and reinstalling the app makes a new one.

There are no accounts, no names, and no profiles. Responders are counted, never listed — no one ever sees who else is coming.

Where your data lives

Posted calls live in a shared database in our iCloud container so that nearby people can see them. Calls expire automatically, usually thirty minutes after they start, and nothing is kept afterwards. Your radius, your notification choice, and any posters you've hidden stay on your device.

Nobody moderates this

A call is free text typed by a stranger. You can hide a poster's calls on your own phone — that hiding happens on your device, isn't sent anywhere, and nobody reviews it.

Services this app connects to

• Apple iCloud / CloudKit — the shared database of calls described above.

Permissions

• Location (When In Use) — used to show you calls near you, and to place a call you post. Coordinates are rounded before anything is written or sent.
• Notifications — optional, and off until you turn it on: tells you when a minyan near you needs people.

No accounts, no analytics, no ads

This app has no login and no user account. It contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA) use.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address it.

Data retention

Because this app keeps your information on your device, we do not hold it. Data stored on your device is removed when you delete the app (subject to any device or iCloud backups, which are under your control).

Your choices

You can manage any permissions this app uses (such as location or microphone) at any time in iOS Settings, and the app keeps working without them wherever possible. Deleting the app removes its on-device data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top.
