Privacy Policy — The Waiting Room

The Waiting Room is one of the Derekh Learning family of companion apps. It has no account and no sign-in. This page explains exactly what this specific app does — and does not do — with your information. What The Waiting Room collects

Nothing. The App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

This app notices when you are still, which sounds like the kind of thing that would need collecting. It isn't:

• Motion is read through Apple's on-device motion history, folded into a yes/no on your device, and discarded. No motion sample or summary is ever transmitted.
• Location, if you mark a place like home, is one coarse fix rounded to roughly a 200-metre grid, kept on your phone and compared only against the places you marked. No coordinate is ever sent anywhere.

Turn the single switch off and the app never reads your motion at all.

Where your data lives

Your thresholds, marked places, chosen learning paths, and the stock of unread pieces stay on your device.

Services this app connects to

• Derekh Learning content service — a read-only request that returns already-published, shared Torah content (a lesson, verse, or card). The request sends nothing about you. — the app pre-fetches a stock of pieces so it works with no signal. The request sends a random ordering seed, a page number, and which learning paths you chose; none of it is stored, and none of it says anything about you.

Permissions

• Motion & Fitness — used to notice that you've been standing still, entirely on your device.
• Location (When In Use) — "Only so you can mark a place — like home — where you'd rather never be offered anything. Locations are rounded and stay on this phone." Optional; decline it and everything else still works.

No accounts, no analytics, no ads

This app has no login and no user account. It contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA) use.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address it.

Data retention

Because this app keeps your information on your device, we do not hold it. Data stored on your device is removed when you delete the app (subject to any device or iCloud backups, which are under your control).

Your choices

You can manage any permissions this app uses (such as location or microphone) at any time in iOS Settings, and the app keeps working without them wherever possible. Deleting the app removes its on-device data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top.
