Insight: The Beauty of the "Correction"

Maimonides explains that the sun’s "mean" position—a mathematical average—isn't its "true" position. Because the Earth isn't centered in the sun’s orbit, we must apply a "correction" (a calculation based on the sun's distance from its peak) to find where the sun actually is. In parenting, we often have a "mean" expectation: a vision of a calm, perfectly scheduled, well-behaved family. But reality is rarely centered. The "correction" is the grace we add when things go off-track. Being a successful parent isn't about maintaining the "mean" expectation; it’s about having the wisdom to adjust your perspective to match the reality of the moment.
